Mr. Lerner is an internationally sought after teacher, primarily giving workshops in floor work. As a natural pedagogue, he worked with New York City public school students at Elliot Feld's Ballet Tech where he cut his teeth on how to teach people of all ages and backgrounds. Since then he's taught at Kizuna 2021 Workshop, Middlebury College, Urban Movement Arts (PA), Peridance Center, HENNY JURRIËNS STUDIO (Amsterdam) and is a faculty teacher Gibney Dance Center and adjunct professor at Adelphi University. His continuing research as a dancer and choreographer feed into his touring workshop 'Dots and Lines'. It is an in depth analysis of how we interact with the floor and is useful for people of all skill sets, floor work related or not.

Weekly Classes at Gibney Dance Center:
Sundays 12-2. Beginner Level
https://gibneydance.org/class-schedule/
This class will take you through the fundamentals of contemporary floorwork and how we navigate the floor. The goal of the class is to give the building blocks for dancers to incorporate floorwork into their own practice and into more advanced classes and work. There is a group warm up followed by a series of “ floorwork multi-vitamins” that take you across the floor which accumulate into a phrase and then scaffold into a larger phrase using the same theme. There is no judgement allowed in class, we are all there to try and fail together. See ya in class!
Mondays 2-4 Advanced/Open Level
https://gibneydance.org/class-schedule/
Isaac Martin Lerner’s class is an exploration of how we can efficiently use our anatomy and gravity to transition in and out of the floor while using breath to create fluidity and power. We start with breath work in a group warm up and move across the floor with a series of floorwork “Multi-Vitamins” which add up into a long phrase so dancers get the chance to try movements in a vacuum then in a flow. Then we transition into a large center where we take movements and concepts from the across the floor and plug them into a contemporary dance aesthetic choreographed by Isaac. His movement is highly influenced by capoeira and breakdancing with contemporary release techniques and by his time with Kizuna Dance, Dual Rivet, and making his own choreography. He invites dancers of all levels to join in and take class as they are, but be prepared for a physically vigorous class that will leave you sweating! See ya on the floor!
