L'Allegro, Il Penseroso, ed Il Moderato
For Mr. Lerner's first foray into movement direction, he was asked by long time collaborator, Chas Rader-Shieber, to work with he students of The Curtis Institute on this funny little production that was never meant to be an opera. Handel's "L'allegro, Il Penseroso, ed Il Modereto" uses the poems of John Milton, and later Charles Jennings, to weigh the cheerful man agains the thoughtful and eventually come to the conclusion that moderation is the key. The students at Curtis, alongside their wonderful voices, gave their everything to the creation of the movement for this work.
